toriyama is the new project of singer-songwriter Gabriel Beckles, who formerly worked under the moniker Television Blonde.
He’s released the new moniker’s first single “like a dream”, a track described about “finding comfort in someone when you’re too weak to face the night alone.” The track has a melancholic and reflective dreamy nature with a slow burn lo-fi and bedroom quality that reminds of some of Alex G’s earliest work. The spellbinding atmosphere feels like a nostalgic daydream reminding you of a much simpler time in life.
Or as he puts it:
An intimate slowcore track about finding safety in someone’s presence. Hypnotic repetition turns ‘You are exactly what I need’ into a mantra, blending vulnerability and devotion. Grounded in small, tactile moments a locket, a phone call, a promise.
