Opheliah – “Time & Place”

Opheliah – “Time & Place”

Opheliah, the Leeds-based band led by singer-songwriter Tim Malki, has returned with their latest single, “Time & Place.”

The track is a song about losing someone whose always been a constant in your life and it captures this sad nature and sense of loss with a melancholic atmosphere. The folk driven track has an intimate vocal delivery that perfectly coincides with the undercurrent and slow build of the track that builds into something life affirming and widescreen.

Speaking in detail about the song, Malki adds:

Time & Place’ is a song about losing someone who’s always been a constant in your life. Not necessarily someone you see every day, but someone who’s always there in the background – in your thoughts, in your memories. It’s about the strange, instinctive things you do while trying to make sense of it all. Like visiting the places they lived, replaying shared moments like scenes from a film. The hospital visits where roles quietly reverse, and you become a carer to the person who always cared for you. The dreams where they show up again, and for a little while, everything feels normal.

We wanted the song to feel like that – like the surreal blur of grief and memory. You don’t really notice when things start to change; it all shifts so gradually, then suddenly it’s chaos, and you’re reaching for something solid while they slip away just as fast.

It’s not necessarily a sad song. We just wanted it to reflect how disorienting and messy this kind of experience really is.
