If you’re in New York City, audiences have many options to wind down after seeing a great Broadway show – 54 Below, Joe’s Pub, Don’t Tell Mama, among others. This fall, Syracuse Stage will bring crowds to the Sutton Pavilion to celebrate opening night of each of the 2025-2026 season offerings, with entertainment provided by CNY Jazz.
Marking the fifth season of CNY Jazz Opening Night After-Parties, the first show will be held on September 12 following the opening of The Hello Girls with a show by Mary Nickson, setting the tone for each opening night thereafter.
Each ensuing show features a different vocalist or instrumentalist with grand piano accompaniment, with a lineup including Jeff Stockham, Joe Carello, Michael Houston & Sam Wynn, Just Joe, and Cathleen O’Brien & Richard Koons providing selections from the Great American Songbook and more.
“As we always do, we have these artists fit their repertoire to the period, theme, or genre of the stage productions whenever possible,” said Larry Luttinger of CNY Jazz, curator of the series. “It adds a fun factor that wraps up the entire evening, amplifying the traditional celebration of the birthing of every new production.”
Bob Hupp, Syracuse Stage Artistic Director spoke of the series, noting “Our partnership with CNY Jazz Central is a highlight of the opening night experience for patrons of Syracuse Stage. After the show, our audience enjoys food and drinks and celebrates the evening through the carefully curated musical offerings of CNY Jazz Central. It’s not-to-be missed fun and I can’t think of a more complementary artistic partnership.”
CNY Jazz Club cardholders buying show tickets on these nights will receive 10% off their tabs at the Sutton Pavilion bar at each cabaret. There is no cabaret cover charge. More info can be found here.
