Denver hardcore punks Destiny Bond have announced their sophomore album, The Love, due October 17 via Convulse Records (pre-order). A press release describes the album like this:
The Love is built on themes of survival, resistance, and the immortality of love. Not a sanitized love, but the kind that sticks around even when things fall apart.
A lot of the songs deal with raw introspection, conflict, identity, and grief, but they’re just as much about the larger systems we’re all up against. The band sees these elements as connected. The lyrics don’t offer clean answers, but they don’t hold back either. It’s music that remembers what’s been lost, what we’re fighting for, and what’s worth protecting.
The first single is “Peace As A Punchline,” and it’s a real anthemic hardcore song that feels like some of the band’s catchiest material yet; it toes the line between rock and classic hardcore in a way that reminds me a little of Fucked Up. Destiny Bond are also about to begin their previously announced tour with Glare, Cloakroom, and Jivebomb, and that great four-band bill hits NYC on October 8 at Bowery Ballroom. (Judging by the billing order, Destiny Bond are on first.) All dates are listed below.
